Been Working Hard

I haven't had time to post my steps here... but that's because I've been working on it.

We just sprayed the first sealer coat of finish yesterday. It went on perfectly.

Note: The neck is not glued on, it is only set in there for the photos.

Black Limba & Daniel

Cedar Top, the cedar is more red/rich than the photo shows.

Rosewood Binding sets it all off

Next step is grain filling. Then we need to apply more topcoats until it has a nice sheen to it.

Rosewood + Black Limba = Happy Luthier

I took a few photos of the neck, I thought you might like to see it before it gets carved.

Inlay, First on a Guitar

We decided on the simple shape of Texas for our first inlay on the Black Limba Acoustic Guitar. I finished inlaying the shape I had already cut out this morning, I think it turned out quite well.

Here are some photos showing the process of how I did it.

First, I clamped the shell there while I painted around it with normal acrylic paint. This would serve as my template for routing.

Then, I went ahead with the routing and finished it up rather quickly.

I cut all the small corners with a chisel while the paint was there.

When I was happy with how the inlay fit, I sanded away the paint.

Then, I used epoxy to glue the shell in. After letting it dry, I did a quick sand to get rid of the excess glue. I still need to fill a few areas in, but all in all it looks great.

I'll post another photo as soon as I get it sanded and filled.
Thanks for reading,

Acoustic Photos

We made a lot of headway this morning and got all the photos of our acoustic up on the website!
It is in its own Gallery on the website, check it out!

This guitar is going to sound great. I can't wait to play it.

If you have any questions about any of the photos, feel free to email me.

Welcome to the New Blog!

I wanted a central location where I can post photos and news of the guitars as I work on them.

So keep checking on here, I'll update it as often as I can.

Here's a random photo so I can see what it's going to look like.
